WOW. Now this creation I have to say, take a bite and you'll pat me on the back! Just saying. These are out of this world incredible. I'll definitely toot my own horn on this one.
Shopping List:
5 sweet pears - quartered and seeded
1/2 cup good whiskey
2 tbs bourbon vanilla - reference my recipe on how to make your own!
1/4 cup brown sugar
5 tbs butter
vanilla ice cream
Quarter and seed your pears. Don't remove the skin. I find this gave such great and needed texture.
Pre heat your oven to 375 degrees.
In a cast iron skillet add the pears, pour over the whiskey and add the vanilla, sprinkle the brown sugar, and strategically (LOL) place the butter around the skillet. Cook in the oven for an hour. No need to mix or touch! These will caramelize and reduce, turning everything into an incredible sauce and the pears will be soft and tender.
Scoop up and put over a few scoops of vanilla ice cream while hot.
Tip: this is a perfect desert to make when having guests because you can throw all the ingredients in the skillet, toss in the oven and go enjoy your company! Come back an hour or so later to something everyone will praise you for.
Would love to hear how you liked these. My waist hated me for these. I couldn't have just 1 bowl!
